I wasn’t looking forward to Valentine’s Day this year. I thought I would have to be my own Valentine, which I was totally ok with me but God told to me after a good retreat “I will take care of Valentine’s day.” I didn’t know what He meant by that, but I went with it.
A couple of days before Valentine’s Day, a co-worker added me to a meeting that day. I called her and asked her why since she hadn’t invited me to something like this before. She said, “Don’t you want to come for snacks?” Who doesn’t want snacks? Naturally, I was looking forward to that. I saw a table of goodies in the café in my building. When the Lord saw me looking at it longingly He said I could come back to it if He didn’t “take care of Valentine’s Day.” I agreed. The only thing He asked was that I go to Mass during my lunch break.
The day came. A coworker greeted me with a smiling face and a sugar cookie. Not exactly what I wanted I wanted chocolate but I would have taken it if that was it. Another coworker, when she came in, walked around giving people chocolate Hostess hearts. It was good but I wanted richer chocolate. God reminded me of the “snacks” I was promised, so I waited.
I went down to that meeting with a drug representative. Did I mention I work in a doctor’s office? The rep had brought some good brownies from Hungry’s. They were exactly what I wanted. God for the win!
This would be a cool story if it ended here, but God is a God of abundance. He said, ‘The day isn’t over yet.” I knew my mom was planning to bring home a Red Velvet cake for the family. That wasn’t much of a surprise that God would have for me because He wouldn’t tell me about that. But the day wasn’t over, so I decided to get everyone in my family a surprise bag of goodies as well. I got home, worked out, and studied for my quiz in school the next week, all the while, wanting my family to come home to open the gifts I had gotten them. When my mom got home, she had forgotten the Red Velvet at work but went to get us some treats on the way home, which was chocolate cake and blueberry pie. My dad had also stopped to get goodies for us as well, which were chocolate covered strawberries.
God did this for me, not just because He is a God of abundance, but also because He is madly in love with me. He is madly in love with you as well and desires to take care of you. He wants to shower you with His love, and if you just surrender to Him, He will be able to shower you with the love He has for you. It comes out differently to different people because of each person’s individual relationship with God and each particular situation you find yourself in. His love started in eternity, required the death of His Son, and extends to you today and will continue into eternity.
Amazing story on how God takes care of all our needs if we allow him. Thanks for sharing Angela!
