Transcend- Dr. Chamoun Interview
Have you ever wondered what God has to do with morality and business? In the book Transcend- Quo Vadis Negotiator, Dr. Habib Chamoun- Nicolás presents the importance of the cardinal virtues in negotiations. Dr. Chamoun takes each one of these virtues including justice, temperance, discernment, fortitude, and prudence to explain the importance each has not only for business but also to make negotiations that transcend. In other words, with these virtues, we are able to make negotiations that not only help us but also those we are negotiating with to become better people.
In his book, Dr. Habib Chamoun- Nicolás includes pictures taken and drawings made by his kids and personal anecdotes that make this book different from any other negotiation or morality book. With this book, one will laugh, understand, and connect with the author as he explains the importance of each virtue. Personally, I can say that I have learned a lot from the book Transcend-Quo Vadis Negociador and I recommend this to anyone who wants to make the world a better place. Each conversation, even ones not relating to business, can become a negotiation. Therefore, this book does not only teach you how to become a better negotiator but also live a better life.
Because of all of this, we went to Dr. Chamoun who agreed to an interview. He also generously spent two Saturday mornings discussing his book with students at the University of St. Thomas in Houston.
In the interview, the author explains the importance of faith and reason in negotiations. He also talks about terms in his book like “Tradeables” which is the act of doing something good for someone without expecting anything in return. Finally, he gives advice for all of those worried about maintaining their faith at the moment of doing business.
Thank you to Dr. Chamoun for sharing his knowledge with us and for being, along with his family, a living example of maintaining God above everything we do.
I hope you enjoy the interview!
I love it!! So insightful and interesting. Merging morality and faith with business practices is a prime example of truly living a life centered on Christ.
