Pray for Your Religious Leaders
Prayer is powerful, to say the least. It can give sight to the blind and raise people from the dead. God wants to give us everything that is good including leaders who follow is path.
Our bishops and priests need your prayers more then ever right now. They are being spiritually attacked more than the typical Catholic. It is easier for them to fall than us because they have more responsibility. I had it explained to me in college that it’s like a reverse pyramid with the pope at the bottom protecting the rest of the church from Hell. Therefore he is under the most attack from the devil and needs our prayers most of all. If you don’t think he’s doing a good job, pray that he does a good job.
Our bishops and priests are fallible humans just like our pope; he’s only infallible when it comes to faith and morals. The only way we can make sure that the Holy Spirit is leading our bishops and priests by praying for them and fasting that they are open to His promoting. I would encourage everyone to pray and fast for the bishops and priests right now because the devil is after them big time. The higher men go in the hierarchy, the more the devil wants to bring them down. We need all of our bishop and priests to be men of integrity, so everyone can have a better shot to get to Heaven.
Fasting doesn’t have to be big. I might say I’m not having sweets for a day. Or I saw on Facebook one idea was not looking at your phone for an hour. Or if you can go without food one day that’s great, but I wouldn’t recommend it for people who are starting out fasting. Do whatever you can do: big or small.
I know the view may be that we’re in a hopeless time, but it doesn’t mean we’re in a helpless time. And whenever I look and it seems hopeless, I am reminded of what Jesus said to His disciples right before He ascended into Heaven, “I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20) .The way He accomplishes this is by giving us the Holy Spirit. This is how we can say the church is perfect. Because the Holy Spirit is leading her. I’m not saying that human side of the church is perfect because clearly it is not. Since it isn’t perfect, therefore we are not in Heaven. Psst, to anyone who thought this was Heaven, it’s not; we’re not there yet.
Let me back up and tell you why I’m referring to the church as a woman. Every family needs a mother and a father. If God the Father is the father, then who is the mother? The church is who made us children of God in the first place through baptism, so therefore she is the mother. Men need something extra to make them into life givers so that’s why the ordination for bishops, priests and deacons and just vows for religious sisters, according to Fr Richard Simon from Father Says. The men in seminary right now are wonderful men who will feel the pain for what their predecessors did, whether for good or for bad. These men are heroic for laying down their lives for Someone the world denies. They also need our prayers.
